Colortest
Within the HYDROCHECK range, the COLORTEST kits are very useful for colorimetric analysis of water: these tests allow to test with great accuracy the concentration of certain substances, both natural and pollutants.
Visual evaluation is carried out by means of specific card with color scale and the comparator contained in the kit: the addition of the reagents contained in the dropper bottles develops a water coloration to be compared with the color scale. The result is expressed in ppm, that is in mg/l. The equipment contained in the kit completely obviates the need for laboratory glassware and requires no washing of pipettes, flasks or other instruments.
Analysis can also be carried out with very small samples (the practice is to analyze 5ml samples and only exceptionally 10 or 20ml samples). The ease of use, accuracy of the measurement, and efficiency make COLORTEST a very useful kit even for field tests or analysis that are carried out by unskilled personnel, provided, of course, that good laboratory practice criteria are kept in mind. Samples with suspended substances or other interfering pollutants must be pretreated with equipment and compounds not included in the kit.

The analysis that can be carried out
A number of reasons to choose Colortest kits
are significant:
- they do not require the use of a photometer;
- always ready-to-use, they make it unnecessary to prepare reagents from time to time, saving a lot of time;
- savings in the purchase of raw materials (for home preparation, raw materials must usually be purchased in considerably larger quantities than necessary);
- stabilized reagents with a shelf life of 1 to 4 years;
- possibility of immediately analyzing water for which no calibration curve is available, by means of the color scale in each kit;
- availability of spare parts at an even more affordable price than the test kits;
- minimum amounts of sample and reagents to be used;
- minimal amounts of wash water, with the possibility of using the water to be analyzed for washing;
- possibility of performing the tests even in locations different from the laboratory.
The tests are designed to measure samples in a temperature range of 20-30°C: operating on such small samples makes it very easy to adequately heat or cool the water to the required temperature.
For analyses that require a high degree of accuracy, it is preferable to perform instrumental analyses, using SPECTRATEST or MONOTEST kits, which give more precise results.
