Monotest
The MONOTEST kit is a great ally for simplifying instrumental colorimetric analyses: the equipment contained in each kit makes it possible to limit reagent waste and to provide clear, easy to interpret, accurate and precise measurements at reasonable prices. The kit contains 20 round 16-mm optical glass tubes with screw caps containing specific pre-dosed reagents for each analysis and a tube containing the blank for instrument zeroing.
The procedure is very simple: a precise amount of sample (5ml) is added to the tube containing the specific reagent needed, proceeding following the provided instructions. For some analyses, no further steps are required for color development, while in others further preparation may be required, for example, heating of the sample or the addition of further reagents: in this case, the dosing spoons and dropper bottles already provided in the kit will also be used.
Color evaluation (absorbance) can be performed using most of the photometers or spectrophotometers on the market equipped with a housing for 16 mm round tubes or using one of the spectrophotometers we sell such as the UviLine line of instruments, programmed for HYDROCHECK testing: the small size of the kit and ease of use allow analysis to be performed even outside laboratory settings with minimal sample of water.
Please feel free to contact our production site in Milan to request further information regarding our supply of HYDROCHECK kits: to do so, you’ll only need to call us or fill in the contact form. We distribute our products throughout Italy and Europe.

Specifics of the analysis
MONOTEST kits can be performed with minimal sample amounts: however, it is essential that these samples accurately match the composition of the water being tested. Therefore, proper sample preparation and homogenization in compliance with good laboratory practice is recommended: samples that contain suspended matter or that may lead to interference in the results should be properly pretreated (e.g., by filtration).
As with all other HYDROCHECK tests, the water sample should be kept at a temperature between 20°C or 30°C to ensure the accuracy of the analysis: reduced sampling, however, is beneficial because the water can be quickly cooled or heated to a suitable temperature.
Advantages
The benefits of HYDROCHECK MONOTEST kits compared to traditional laboratory methods are significant:
- they make it possible to perform certain analyses that cannot be performed with SPECTRATESTs;
- always ready-to-use, they make it unnecessary to prepare reagents from time to time, saving a lot of time;
- minimal operator contact with reagents:
- savings in the purchase of raw materials (for home preparation, raw materials must usually be purchased in considerably larger quantities than necessary);
- stabilized reagents with a shelf life of 1 to 4 years;
- always ready for water analysis not performed daily;
- possibility to immediately analyze substances for which no calibration curve is available (with UviLine);
- minimum amounts of sample and reagents to be used;
- minimal amounts of wash water, with the possibility of using the water to be analyzed for washing;
- possibility of performing the tests even in locations different from the laboratory.
