HCK Spectratest Sulphides

HCK Spectratest Sulphides

Code 6237
Analysis Type Sulphides
Analysis Method

Measurement of the color intensity of the methylene blue obtained by oxidation of the leucomethylene blue previously formed by reaction of the Sulphides with N,N'-dimethyl-1,4-phenylenediamine.

Optimal Measurement Range

0,2 – 3 mg/l S

Kit Contents

• 1 bottle reagent Sulphides A
• 1 bottle reagent Sulphides B
• 1 bottle reagent Sulphides C
• 2 plastic test tubes of 20 ml with stopper
• 1 syringe of 5 ml
• Instructions (English)

Observations

- The method determines total sulfides, which also includes dissolved H2S. The expression of results is in ppm S.
- The analysis should be performed on the freshly taken sample.
- HYDROCHECK SPECTRATEST kits (which can be purchased directly) require the use of a photometer and allow for many precise analyses at a very low cost per analysis. HYDROCHECK MONOTEST kits are preferred because of their greater convenience and safety of use.
The cost per analysis of MONOTESTs is higher, but the analysis is simpler because the samples to be analyzed are introduced into optical glass tubes containing the predosed reagents that can be used directly in the appropriate photometers. MONOTEST kits are especially recommended when there are few analyses to be performed.
As for the photometer, it is preferable to use a spectrophotometer such as the Hydrocheck or Spectronic Genesys, since filter photometers give less reliable and accurate results, as well as always requiring the construction of a calibration curve.
