- The kit is suitable for the determination of nonionic ethoxylated surfactants with 3 to 20 ether bridges. HYDROCHECK MONOTEST kits (which can be purchased directly) require the use of a photometer. Despite having a higher cost per analysis than that offered by the Spectratests, the MONOTESTs are finding increasing popularity because of their high accuracy, reliability and safety of use.
Moreover, with MONOTESTs, analysis is simpler because the samples to be analyzed are introduced into optical glass tubes containing the predosed reagents that can be used directly in any photometer capable of accepting 16-mm diameter round tubes, such as HC or Uvi-Line spectrophotometers.
As for the photometer, it is preferable to use a spectrophotometer such as the HC or Uvi-Line, as filter photometers give less reliable and accurate results, as well as always requiring the construction of a calibration curve.
