Analysis Description

Determination of free, combined and total chlorine with DPD

Ideal for Water

potable, wastewater, purified and of swimming pool

Kit Contents

• 1 bottle of 35 ml of reagent A
• 1 bottle of 18 ml of reagent B
• 1 bottle of 35 ml of reagent C
• 2 plastic test tubes of 20 ml with stopper
• 2 test tubes of 16 mm optical glass with stopper
• 1 syringe of 5 ml
• Instructions (English)

Observations

• The method is recommended for measuring free and total chlorine in water containing interfering substances, for example swimming pool water. The difference between the two values corresponds to the combined chlorine (for example Cloramines, which, as disinfectants, are less effective than chlorine).
• The SPECTRATEST HYDROCHECK kits (which can be purchased directly) require the use of a photometer or spectrophotometer to perform many precise analyzes at a very low cost per analysis. HYDROCHECK MONOTEST kits are preferred because of their greater convenience and safety of use. The cost per analysis of MONOTEST kits is higher, but the analysis is very simple because the samples to be analyzed are introduced into optical glass tubes containing the pre-dosed reagents that can be used directly in the appropriate photometers. MONOTEST kits are recommended when there are few analyses to be performed. As for the photometer, it is preferable to use a spectrophotometer such as the Hydrocheck or Spectronic Genesys, since filter photometers give less reliable and precise results, as well as always requiring the construction of a calibration curve.
