Observations

• The analysis according to Nessler is a classic method, tested for a century. The indophenol method offers higher sensitivity.
• The HYDROCHECK MONOTEST kits (which can be purchased directly) require the use of a photometer. Despite having a higher cost per analysis compared to SPECTRATESTs, HYDROCHECK MONOTEST kits are preferred because of their greater convenience and safety of use. The analysis with MONOTESTs is very simple because the samples to be analyzed are introduced into optical glass tubes containing the pre-dosed reagents that can be used directly in any photometer capable of accepting 16-mm diameter round tubes, such as Hydrocheck or Spectronic Genesys spectrophotometers. SPECTRATEST kits, which offer a significantly lower cost per analysis, are recommended when it is necessary to perform a number of analyses, to be repeated frequently. As for the photometer, it is preferable to use a spectrophotometer such as the Hydrocheck or Spectronic Genesys, since filter photometers give less reliable and precise results, as well as always requiring the construction of a calibration curve.
