Determination of bivalent and trivalent iron dissolved in water. This is the determination of total iron dissolved in water, meaning that non-dissolved iron, present for example in the form of rust flakes, is not determined unless it has first been dissolved by boiling with acid.

Observations

Note:
- This classic method is widely used in all cases where there is no need for particularly high sensitivity, for which the iron-low method is recommended.
- The optical comparator contained in the package enables a colour comparison between two test tubes containing the same amount of water, which increases accuracy.
- The HYDROCHECK kits (which can be purchased directly) allow a large number of precise analyses to be carried out at a very low cost per analysis. If precision is not particularly important and the analyses to be carried out are few in number, it may be worthwhile using DROPS kits, which cost considerably less per package (to be purchased through dealers).
